Dr. Firew Tegegne receives Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2022

According to a statement by Embassy of Japan Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the Commendation is awarded to Dr. Firew Tegegne for his leading role, to start with, in the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2008 that enforces academic cooperation between Bahir Dar University and Tottori University and in the fruitful academic exchanges with universities in Japan. The statement also noted Dr. Firew’s wealth of research experience and  active engagement in joint research projects in water (lake) and Land.

According to the statement, the Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas.

We would like to congratulate Dr. Firew Tegegne for the well deserved recognition which signals a further growing relationship between Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia and Universities in Japan, particularly Tottori University, Soka University, Shimane University and the University of Tokyo, and the people of Japan and Ethiopia.
