BDU wins SATREPS Project
BDU and Injibara University together with Soka University of Japan win SATREPS project.

Two local Universities, Bahir Dar University and Injibara University, and Soka University from the funder country, Japan, jointly won a timely project titled “Eco-engineering for Agricultural Revitalization Towards improvement of Human nutrition (EARTH): Water hyacinth to energy and agricultural crops”.
Bahir Dar University would like to congratulate and appreciate the experts both from inside and outside who worked relentlessly to win this project. The university believes because of the project there will be knowledge and technology transfer which will help the host country benefit in many ways both from the research process and the research outputs in tacking the problems identified and more.
SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) is a science and technology diplomacy initiative that promotes international joint research between Japan and developing countries using advanced Japanese science and technology. The SATREPS program is a collaboration between JICA, the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED).
SATREPS aims to acquire new knowledge that can be utilized for the benefit of society, including for the capacity-building of researchers and research institutes in developing countries based on local needs.
Before the implementation of the project an international agreement needs to be signed between MOFA and the Government of Ethiopia regarding implementation of the project, followed by an agreement on the details of technical cooperation between JICA and the research counterpart(s) in the developing country.
