Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital of College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Bahir Dar University signs a memorandum of understanding with ReachAnother Foundation, a public benefit non-profit corporation based in the United States in Bend, Oregon. The two parties have agreed to cooperate in developing a Center of Excellence for Pediatric Neurosurgery, specifically for Neural Tube Disorders [NTD] - Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida (SBH) at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital. The agreement further includes working together in areas of clinical services, teaching and research.
Both parties acknowledge and appreciate the recent initiative taken by the Ethiopian Ministry of Health to develop a Center of Excellence for Pediatric Neurosurgery at the hospital. This agreement is believed to make significant contributions in achieving the goal of establishing center of excellence in neurosciences at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital, BDU. The agreement was signed by Prof. Yeshigeta Gelaw, Chief Executive Director of College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Bahir Dar University, and Dr. Marinus Koning and Dr. Jan Koning, Medical Directors of ReachAnother USA and ReachAnother Netherlands, respectively.
