The University’s thematic areas - Thematic areas give us a general direction of the research areas. First, the University chose five areas of interest which the research should address. The Research administration adopted them immediately and set up research groups with directors and members for each. They are mentioned above under the Research Centres list. Their number has increased ever since.

Thematic Areas for Research Centres and Academic Units - Afterwards, each Academic Unit and Research Centre identified research areas of its own. Approaches of identification varied with Units and centres. According to the preliminary tallying of the research themes identified by each academic Unit, we have a total of 102 themes. Irregularities are evident and more work must be done to refine them. The following table shows the list. The details of the actual themes are shown in a separate document.
